Raja, one of the more embattled executives in U.S. aviation, is overseeing the airline's global network and customer organization while working remotely.

Fort Worth, Texas-based American Airlines Group Inc. made the announcement today, saying that Raja is working remotely for "a few weeks" to handle personal matters.
